Brixton terrace angled window shutters
The Lounge bay shutters in this Brixton terrace are fixed to the face of the architrave surrounding the bay window. The bay is typical of the area and is an angled bay. The bay shutters are finished in a poplar wood. There are two types of shutter wood types which we use here at Shutterly Fabulous. Our solid wood shutters are available in either solid Elm Wood, or Solid Poplar Wood.
The paint used to spray the poplar wood shutters contains a UV protective coating. This means that your shutters won’t discolour whilst exposed to the sun.
The Elm Wood shutters have a deeper grain; they don’t take the paint as well, but can provide a more rustic look for your shutters. Elm wood and its deeper grain is great for stains. The finish of the shutters when stained is much more that of a natural wood. The smoothness of Poplar wood in comparison can make the shutters have a slight veneered feel to them when stained.
Obviously all options are entirely personal preference and there is no right or wrong, but we can certainly help you by offering additional information. Our consultants are a window into the design options you can have and they can certainly advise if they feel that they would suit your window and the rest of your home. We pride ourselves on our extensive design knowledge and we try to ensure that our customers achieve the look they want for their bespoke shutters in their home.
