White Plantation Shutters with Chunky 89mm Shutters Slats
Shutters create spacious feel for Brighton Bedroom
Plantation Shutters reduce the fuss and clutter in most rooms and nowhere is this more apparent than in this child’s bedroom in Hove, close to Brighton.
This 30’s property sees the plantation shutters mounted on a bedroom that faces west, towards Shoreham and Worthing and was subject to a lot of direct sunlight from noon onwards. The shutters panels are rarely folded open and instead the shutters slats are tilted at a very slight angle to allow light still to enter the room, but the shutters stop direct sunlight beaming into the room.
As this Brighton family didn’t want to open the panels very often, it made more sense for the shutters to mount inside the recess, tight to the window framing. That way the child’s bedroom still has space that can be used on the window sill. The shutters have also been designed to have the solid upright section of the shutters (knows as the ‘stile’ of the shutters) aligning directly with the window framing. Therefore when the shutters slats are tilted open, you have a very clear view through the glazed area of the window.
The shutters here are made from FSC certified yellow poplar, painted in white UV protected paint. The wooden shutters featured have 89mm slats (3 ½”) and have a push rod on the front of the shutters panels.
