Shutters with Hidden Rods, Creating Clearview Open Sky Feel

The shutters shown on this hallway window are made with 64mm slats that feature our unique ‘open sky’ hidden push rod system. They are painted in white and have brushed steel hinges. Concealed shutter push rods and stainless steel hinges are options which Shutterly Fabulous provide to customers at no extra charge.
Shutterly Fabulous was the first UK shutters company to introduce a concealed push rod option creating a clearview. Other shutter companies who buy through shutter importers Custom West and S Craft introduced a similar design a couple of years after Shutterly Fabulous. Shutters with this system are marketed as Clearview Shutters.
A concealed shutter push rod is preferred by customers who desire a very clean lined look from their shutters. Unlike the traditional push rod system (which sees a vertical ‘rod’ linking the shutters slats together on the front of the shutters) Open Sky shutters have a metal bar offset on the side of the slats. The slats are individually notched out at the back of the panel, to accommodate the rod which links the slats together.
The overall effect of this design is that you negate the need for a vertical rod running down through the centre of the slats of each panel. This means that if you leave the panels closed over a lot of the time and tilt the slats open, you have a clearer view when you have the slats tilted open. We advise customers to base their decision to have the regular push rod or the concealed push rod on their visual preference. The 2 designs present quite different looks and this should be the main driver behind which design you choose.
While other shutter companies have started to market a similar concealed push rod design, Shutterly Fabulous does not charge a premium to have the hidden push rod system. Our shutters pricing structure is very clear and easy to understand and we do not charge premiums for this push rod design.
