Window Styling for London home - New England Shutters
New England Shutter Style
New England Shutters installed in London are shown in this image. Shutters automatically give homes a Shaker feel about them, or a New England look to homes, particularly when married up to furnishings of a similar feel.
This customer in North West London had unusual window openings in that their recesses have splayed edges. This would make it tricky for an installation of shutters as many measuring factures need to be accounted for. And the depth of frame means that at some point either infill strips, or decorators caulk needs to be used to fill any gaps caused by the splayed sides.
Our customer in London wanted their shutters to look like New England shutters in their styling, so we designed together these shutters being manufactured without a push rod. This means that there are less vertical lines at the window, which gives a clear view to the outside. If there is no push rod to operate the slats open and closed like these London shutters, we would manufacture using our Open Sky system. This basically means that each louver or slat is connected to each other one by a connecting aluminium “rod” at the back.
From the image you can see that our customer has also chosen a Mid Rail in their shutter design. This is a popular choice for our customers, giving so much more flexibility as to how wooden shutters are used. The styling of these shutters is based on New England style shutters and they work really well for our London shutters customer.
To give a real “shaker” style or New England look to these shutters our customer in London has chosen larger slats, namely the 89mm slats which gives a clean lined look to the shutters and also adds a modern touch.
