West London Bay Window Privacy Shutters
Box bay shutters with large louvers
Box bays are a common sight in South West London, All over London in fact! Sashes installed within box bays are really very common. The windows shown are in a property which is directly on street level. The customer wanted some kind of window covering to be able to help maintain some privacy for their home.
The customer has a box bay with separate sash windows. They had enough room within their sashes to be able to fix individual shutter sets to each section of the bay. The advantage of separate shutter sets in this specific window as opposed to having one huge length of frame for the front window of the box bay is that the customer gets to keep their beautiful architrave between their sash windows.
The consultant would always try to use their expert knowledge to ensure that shutters don’t impose on the window of in the room, and that they blend in to appear as part of the house.
The customer wanted large slats in their shutters so that they could let lots of light filter into the room and still maintain some privacy with their shutters.
Box bay shutters are great. They really help to maintain privacy. The 89mm slats are a very contemporary design feature and allow lots of light into the room. The large slats help with the diffusing of light in that they can be angled fully opened or closed in both directions to let light in and still keep privacy.
Shutters are a flexible item to have installed in your box bay window, they are manufactured in a solid hard wood and are easy to clean, far more so than heavy drapes or nets. They bring a fresh and contemporary feel and can update the look of a room.
