One of the key aspects to consider is how often you think you’ll open the shutters panels themselves, as opposed to tilting the shutters slats. They had leaded windows and wanted to keep the shutters design simple to avoid adding more lines to the window. Leaded windows do work just fine with shutters, but only if the design has been well thought out. Making the shutters solid sections match the framing of the window ensured this as there was therefore minimal addition of wood through the glazed leaded area.

The shutters shown on this leaded window are painted in a white finish and are made from poplar FSC hardwood. There are 3 full height shutters hinged to open 2 right and 1 left.
