Can you fit Shutters on UPVC Windows? Yes you can!

Shutters on PVCu windows are what our Brighton Shutters customer ordered for their baby room. They were initially worried that they wouldn’t be able to have shutters fitted to their PVU window, so they contacted us here at Shutterly Fabulous to enquire.

Some of our customers are particularly worried about fitting shutters to PVU windows as obviously the shutter frame has to drill to something, and if there is no recess, then the shutters will need to be face fixed.

The shutters shown in the baby room are face fixed, however as the customer didn’t want their shutters to be screwed into the PVU window, we were able to fit to one of the decorative bits of architrave around the window. If there is enough room then we can certainly make sure that there will be minimal damage caused by shutters to PVU windows.

The shutters we installed for our Brighton Shutters customer were for their baby room, and as such, they wanted to ensure that there was quite a bit of light blockage so that their baby wouldn’t get unnecessarily woken up with the light early in the morning.

There are a few things which we can do during the manufacturing stage to ensure that there is as much light blockage as possible. We can manufacture additional black out roller blinds, which will sit behind your shutter set. This will only work if you have enough room behind your shutter set to put this additional blind up. The customer didn’t have any room as there was no recess, in cases like this, we can request that our shutters are manufactured with light reduction

sidebars. This will mean that less light is able to penetrate between the shutter panels.
