If you’re looking to replicate true authenticity in a Victorian property such as a terraced or semi detached home, dressing your windows with solid shutters certainly does the job. We make 2 different types of solid shutters panels. There is the option of the more detailed ‘solid raised’ shutters or the ‘solid shaker’ shutters. The raised panel has a solid insert on the shutter with a more detailed design. Typically these raised solid shutters were installed on bay windows or sash windows on more upscale properties. Often the solid shutter panels would be hinged to fold back into boxes on the side of the window, to completely conceal the shutters when folded back.
Solid shutters that were installed on period properties were often made from softwood such as pine. Trying to create a truly authentic replica of original solid shutters is difficult as often these solid shutters that were not always of the best quality being slightly rickety. Creating this feeling of originality is not easy with newly made solid shutters!
