Shutterly Fabulous not only designs, manufactures and installs wooden plantation shutters with moveable slats but also offers customers solid shutters. Solid shutters are available in 2 different designs
- The solid shutters which feature a raised insert in the middle of the shutter
- The solid shaker shutter which has a flat insert in the middle of the shutter
The photo here shows solid raised shutters. You can see the overall design of the shutter is similar to that seen on a normal plantation shutter where you have the shutter panel or panels mounted inside of a frame. The shutter panel itself is comprised of the 2 upright stiles (the solid vertical pieces of wood) and the top rail and bottom rail (the horizontal pieces of solid wood at the top and bottom of the shutter panel)
‘Inside’ these solid pieces of wood is a solid inserted section. On the photo you see here, this features what is termed a solid raised insert. You can see that there is a curved edge to the shutter insert which makes more of a feature of the inserted panel. This raised section would be installed to face inwards into the room. The rear of the shutter panel would be a flat section which can be seen on other sections of this gallery.
As with all shutters designs it’s personal preference that should lead you to your choice of shutter. Solid shutters suit a certain type of property and one of the main factors you need to take onboard is that with solid shutters, you need to fold back the shutters in the daytime, to allow light into the room. Unlike plantation shutters with moveable slats, you cannot tilt the slats to allow light to enter the room.
