Wooden Shutters for Doors

It is often nice to be able to visualise how full height shutters installed over a set of French doors will look when the panels are fully opened up. You can see on this shutter set in Essex, how the panels concertina up together and sit nicely against one another and flat against the wall at either side of the recess.

It is definitely becoming a more and more popular choice to have Shutters fitted to a French door, but the door needs to remain usable. By having the panels of the shutter set on the French door fold back against the wall, the French doors can be used to their full advantage as no space in the door opening is lost with the French door shutter panels folding back against the recess wall.

The French door shutters installed in Essex are fitted into three sides of the recess, top and two sides. Shutters which have a long length like these shutters fitted at a French door would ideally have a bottom piece of frame however this doesn’t always work with French doors.

Shutter frame surrounds the panels and the top and bottom pieces of frame contain the magnet plates to provide a connection between the magnets on the panels and the magnets on the frame pieces. Obviously by not having a bottom piece of frame on a shutter set on a French door, there isn’t going to be a connecting section at the bottom of the shutter set.But it does mean that there won’t be a trip hazard on the floor of the French door opening.

These French doors are finished in White with 64mm slats, the shutters on the French door has a mid rail slightly under half way up the door panels, which actually matches exactly to the mid-rail on the customers doors.

The slats on the French door shutter panel are linked together with a Push Rod. The linking of these salts means that when the push rod is tilted on one direction, all the slats on that shutter panel linked together open in unison.
