This photo shows shutters installed in a Reading, Berkshire home. The shutters were installed in a study and were required to help the customer gain better sight of their computer screen. With the shutters being painted a white finish, the shutters are exceptionally flexible as you can either pull light into the room, or deflect direct sunlight, by tilting the slats at a slight angle.
The shutters you see are made from yellow poplar kiln dried hardwood and are painted using a match for Heritage 'Cloudy White' paint. Cloudy White is a slightly softer paint colour than a regular, pure white finish, and is often chosen by customers looking for a slightly muted white painted finish. All our shutters are available in a wide range of custom inspired whites and rich, natural wood stains, ensuring you'll find a look and colour that's just right for your home. Here's another example of our popular white wooden shutters
All shutters, be they painted or stained, are treated with a UV protective sealant that stops the effects of weathering on the shutters and sunlight bleaching the colour from the wood. Shutters are one of the easiest window treatments to look after. Simply dusting the shutters and wiping off any marks using a damp cloth will ensure that the finish of you shutters looks as good in years to come as it does when they're installed.
The shutters on this window are mounted as an outside mount. This window is a recessed window, where the window is flush with the outside wall and there is therefore a window recess (or reveal) of around 5". The shutter panels will open to angle of approximately 90°. This design of shutters is best suited when the panels are not going to opened too often and instead the shutters slats are tilted to control the light into the room.
