Hard Wood Plantation Shutters From Shutterly
Wooden full height window shutters
Windows come in all shapes and sizes. Wooden plantation shutters from Shutterly Fabulous are custom made bespoke for each customer. The process involves a consultant visit where the customers have their windows or openings measured up and they are talked through the different design options and colours they can have for their shutters.
Large patio doors are something we regularly fit shutters to. Often having an expanse of glass in your living room looking to the outside is great during the daylight hours or during the summer months, but during the darker times of the year when its great to be able to tuck yourself in with a warm fire its nice to have the option of covering the windows.
Often curtains or drapes can be heavy and expensive and a bit of a dust trap. Wooden plantation shutters are manufactured from light woods, which have been kiln dried and are hardwoods. They are great in that they can be manufactured in almost any size to suit your window or opening.
Being able to control the amount of light which comes into the room with a simple tilt of slats is great. You can really alter the mood of the room by letting in more or less light. You can read about another alternative here: cafe shutters.
You can choose to have less, larger shutter panels, or more, smaller panels. By having more, smaller panels. When they concertina back, either into the window recess or against a wall, the less obtrusive they feel as they won’t stick out into the room.
This customer in Epsom, Surrey, chose to have larger panels with a beautiful Walnut stain on Elm Wood. The customer will bring with them samples of the finishes, both paints and stains, so you can see how they work with the light and the furnishings in your room.
The plantation shutters in this installation really become a focal part of the room. Their rich stain really shows off the deep grain of the elm wood and being so large covering such a huge space on a wall, they work really well to let the light in, but allows the customer to still control the levels of light and how the light enters the room. Plantation shutters are also great for large doors or windows as they are made from wood which is a natural insulator, it is far more effective than glass and the benefits of such a window covering can definitely be felt during the winter months.
