Wooden Shutters From Shutterly Fabulous
Stained wood shutters for interior windows
Stained wooden shutters are a standard of ours here at Shutterly Fabulous. We have a range of 9 different wood shutters stain finishes for use on either our poplar wood shutters or our elm wood shutters.
Both woods we use here at Shutterly Fabulous are from sustainable sources as you can read on our wooden sustainable shutters page.
FSC certified woods are not offered by all shutter companies. As we are all becoming more aware of the changes to the environment it becomes more and more important to be able to make conscious choices as to the furnishings in your home.
The custom shutters we manufacture for our customers are all made from solid hardwoods, either poplar or elm. These woods are not too heavy and are treated so that they don’t warp or bow and are either painted or stained with a paint or stain mixed in with a UV protective coating to prevent discolouration. Wiping the shutters down with a soft slightly damp cloth cleans the louvers effectively and by taking care of your shutters, you will have a product which will serve as an effective window treatment.
We do not use MDF for our plantation shutters. MDF is a cheap product, manufactured typically with wood dust and glue and with urea-formaldehyde resin, which can cause problems with allergy sufferers or people with sensitivity to formaldehyde. Its isn’t a very environmentally friendly way of manufacturing a product and MDF is very heavy. The weight imposed on the hinges of the shutter can damage the hinges and ultimately the plantation shutter.
These Stained wood Arch shutters show the grain from the poplar wood showing through, giving a lovely finish to these arch plantation shutters.
