BoConcept showcase Decorative window shutters at Selfridges
Plantation Shutters displayed in London’s premier department store
BoConcept is the brand name of Denmark's largest global furniture retail chain and their Scandinavian designs can be found in over 50 countries around the world.
BoConcept’s mission is to make modern furniture available to the urban-minded shopper. They offer coordinated, customised and affordable design furniture and accessories – the perfect complement for our plantation shutters.
The first BoConcept store opened in Paris in 1993 and all future stores have been strategically located in high footfall areas ever since. As far as the UK is concerned, not many places have higher customer traffic than Oxford Street and Selfridges is undoubtedly this shopping district’s main attraction. There is now a wide selection of decorative interior shutters adorning the windows of BoConcept's fourth floor Selfridges concession.
Selfridges itself needs little introduction, founded 1909 by Harry Gordon Selfridge it is the UK’s second largest department store after Harrods. The Oxford Street store is steeped in history, indeed the first public display of the television set in 1925 was from the first floor in Selfridges. From televisions then to
decorative wooden shutters now, over the years the chain has changed hands several times. The current owner, Canada’s Galen Western, has decided to invest and continue this history and carry out a renovation of the Oxford Street store rather than carry out expansions in Bristol, Leeds, Glasgow and Newcastle upon Tyne.
BoConcept have selected off white plantation shutters to subtlety complement their urban furniture range with both 64mm (2½ inch) and 89mm (3½ inch) shutter louvres on display, all of which have the decorative front facing push rod option. However those looking for a contrasting window dressing rather than a subtle off white shutter, will be interested to learn that our decorative shutters are available in a wide range of painted colours and wood stains.
With plantation shutters increasingly becoming the must have decorative window finish, it’s no surprise to see other department stores on Oxford Street selling interior shutters as well. John Lewis has recently added shutters to their collection, although we believe our window shutters displayed in BoConcept’s Selfridges store are Oxford Street’s largest collection.
