View Interior Shutters in Wimbledon Village

The Mint Source sells furniture, furnishings, home accessories, lamps, books and wonderful gifts, all of which are very stylish and well chosen with a very English feel. Located in the heart of Wimbledon Village, the shop has been likened to an 'overstuffed drawing room' where you can happily browse whilst listening to Ella Fitzgerald or some other jazz great. As Wimbledon is at the end of The District Tube Line it is very accessible and has added excitement and atmosphere during Wimbledon Tennis fortnight (although probably best avoided then!).

The Mint Source is an independent store owned and managed by Maggie Heaney. Maggie began her retail career at Habitat in the Sixties and early Seventies. Terence Conran invited her to research and carry out all of the buying for the new Conran Shop which opened on Fulham Road in London in 1973. In 1980 Maggie moved on via Designers Guild to The General Trading Company in Sloane Street where she was Buying Director until 1993. By that Autumn Maggie decided to put her vast wealth of buying experience into opening her own shop and The Mint Source was born.

Maggie lives in Wandsworth, about 15 minutes from the shop, “I used to ride on Wimbledon Common in my youth, so had fond memories of Wimbledon Village, it really does have all the town and country benefits of a true London Village”.

Maggie is often asked where the name came from. “The Mint Source name is a play on words. Mint means perfect and Source is a place from which something is obtained. So The Mint Source is the perfect place to find something! The culinary spelling Mint Sauce is very English and the shop is very English in its content and style”.
