The article in a February 2009 edition of the Sunderland Echo makes the valid point the dressing your windows should not only be viewed as a practical solution to keeping light out at night, but curtains, blinds and shutters are a fundamental part of dressing your room. In most rooms, windows form a large surface area, therefore whatever covering you choose for your windows, will create quite an impact on the overall décor within the room. Shutters give wonderful flexibility, not only in their function and how you can use the shutters, but in how the shutters can create different looks within your room.

Going for narrower slats such as 47mm shutters and having smaller panels, looks great in a country cottage type setting. It obviously helps that the shutters in this dining room shot are featured in a room that has quite a natural décor, with white wood painted floorboards and white walls. If these blue shutters were in a room with matching blue walls, it could be somewhat overpowering to say the least!
