from the UK's premier shutters company

Shutters can seem a little daunting as not only are you trying to figure out the best company to design and install your shutters, but you have a whole new set of words to contend with as well!

We like to be Shutterly clear about all that we do and about our shutters, therefore we've put together this clear explanation about all the parts that make up our window shutters.

Top Rail - The solid part at the very top of the shutters panel

Bottom Rail - The solid part at the very bottom of the shutters panel

Mid Rail - Shutters can be specified with a solid horizontal piece of wood which is called a mid rail. Other terms you may hear applied to this part of the plantation shutters is divide rail or support rail. The mid rail gives strength and support the structure of the shutter panel. Shutters with a mid rail also have separate control of the slats on the upper and lower sections which have several practical benefits.

Frame - Shutters are installed within their own shutter frames. Shutterly Fabulous was the first shutters company in the UK to install shutters consistently using 2, 3 and 4 sided frames. Different frame options are available to suit your shutters and windows.

Stile - the shutters stile is the solid vertical part of the actual shutter panel. We offer this in a number of different designs to suit your requirements.

Shutter Slats - shutters have horizontal wooden slats (also known as louvers/louvres or blades) which can be tilted, opened and closed to control light into the room. Plantation shutters are available with slats in different sizes.

Push Rods - Interior shutters from Shutterly Fabulous can be ordered with either a front facing or hidden push rods. The push rod is used to link the shutters slats to open and close in unison.

If any of the terms detailed about out interior shutters cause you confusion or you have any specific questions about our plantation shutters, please contact us and we would be Shutterly delighted to help you.
