Quite simply, casement windows are windows that open outwards from a hinge. These hinges are typically positioned on the side of the window, but casement windows can also be hinged from the top or the bottom.
The history of the casement window actually goes back further than the classic sash window.
Shutters provide many benefits to Casement windows, including privacy, light control and oodles of style!
Casement window shutters can be fixed into the recess of your window, or just outside of it, to ensure you still get full access to your windows and they retain their full functionality. This means, in the summer you can have your windows open to let in a breeze, but keep the shutter panels closed and the slats tilted to keep it cool inside.
Casement window shutters add an extra layer of insulation against draughts, are easy to clean and maintain, and even reduce those pesky outside noises, perfect for street-level rooms and those living in busy cities.
The good news is that all of our shutter styles can be suited to casement windows.
Full height shutters provide full coverage and are our most popular choice for standard casement windows.
Tier on tier shutters also provide full coverage, with the addition of seperate top and bottom tiers that open independently.
Café style shutters cover the lower half of your windows, allowing for privacy while continually letting in light.
Solid shutters are solid panels of wood that don’t feature slats or louvres like our other shutter styles. The solid nature of these shutters means they reduce the most light and noise of all our style, making them the perfect addition for bedrooms.
